Very early last Friday morning my mom arrived at my house with a packed car ready for our 12 + hour road trip to Idaho. We had been planning and postponing the trip for months and finally all the stars aligned, the sun was out and we were off. We stopped for coffee, which we’ve never done together before. We listened to her CD’s which included some of my favorite songs. I had no idea she liked them too. We ate ice-cream for dinner and ate dinner at 10′oclock at night. We giggled and rolled our eyes at the same ridiculous situations. She told me stories of her childhood and we confessed secrets long harbored. There were late night pillow talks, microwave popcorn and cashew snacking in bed. It was perfect. I had her all to myself for the first time in a very long time and it’s a trip I’ll never forget. As a photographer, I’m embarrassed to say that there are no pictures of us to prove it. It will forever be a memory just between us.
As I’m wrapping up Mother’s Day mini sessions from a couple of weeks ago, I find myself wishing, I too, had a special picture of me with my mom. This session in particular really warmed my heart. Krystal and her kiddo’s expressions are so real and their love for each other is so obvious. I’ve known this Mama for something like 15ish years and have seen from Facebook stalking how good she is about photographing their daily adventures. But, like most moms, she’s rarely in the pictures with them so I know how much these images will mean to her. We even got dad in a few shots too!
Krystal, it was so wonderful to see you and your family. I hope these pictures make you warm and fuzzy and they find a special place on your walls to make you smile and see how beautiful you are with your children.
