Jamie Neilsen Photography: The Blog bio picture

Hi, I'm Jamie!

I know you have a choice.  There are a lot of photographers out there – which is a great thing because it keeps pushing me to be better than ever. When you choose me to be your photographer, I do a little happy dance and then I get right to work on creating the perfect portrait experience for you. While my craft is closely tied to gear and gadgets, I know that you are a person and you deserve a personal experience.

I promise to not only take “pretty pictures” but to take pictures that make your heart swell and your toes curl.

I promise to let you be you and photograph what comes naturally.

I promise to be silly, have fun and make you laugh out loud.

I promise to provide plenty of options and guidance so you get exactly what you’re looking for…and then add a cherry on top that you didn’t even ask for.

I promise to deliver high quality heirloom photographs that you can’t wait to hang on your walls…big.

And when it’s all said and done…

I promise to stay in touch well after your session because I value our relationship.

I’m Jamie Neilsen and I’d be honored to be your photographer.

Wanna know more?

I didn’t find photography. Photography found me.
Chewy chocolate brownies are my weakness. No nuts. No frosting.
My husband is my jeweler, personal chef and best friend.
I have nearly a dozen brothers and sisters.
I’m not a morning person.
I adore all things Italian – especially red wine and rich food.
I’m a PC by day and a Mac by night.
I don’t own a TV.
I’d rather dress up than wear jeans and a t-shirt.
I am a lifestyle and portrait photographer.

Garber Family | Portraits in the Park

I’m not exactly a morning person. In fact, there are very few things that I am willing to wake up early for. Portraits in the park with a fun family like this is a perfect example of one of those things. The Garber family had so much energy and fantastic smiles at 7:30am! It made...

The Nephews

I’m fairly certain that when my sister asks me to “watch the boys for a couple of hours” what she’s really saying is, “it’s time for more pictures, Auntie.” We had an awesome day with trips to the playground, a splash at the lake, ice-cream, fire-trucks, singing songs and…accessorizing. Ty’s favorite things to play with...

Baby Will | Newborn & Family Portraits

If you were to ask me what it’s like to be an on location family photographer, I’d tell you it’s a lot like being invited to a party and peeking in the host’s medicine cabinet…but a lot less creepy. I get invited into homes of people I’ve just met. I kick off my shoes and...

Reardon Family | Portraits in the Park

Little girls…little girls….for some reason that song from Annie keeps popping in my head whenever I see these two lil cutie pies. I’ve had sooo many boy sessions that it was a nice break to finally play with little girls. We smelled flowers, hopped like bunnies, ran and ran. Well, at least big sis did....

Jump!

Last Friday my husband, my sister, her boyfriend, and their two dogs crammed into a borrowed mini van with all our camping gear and headed to the ocean. We intended to leave by 1pm to beat the rush hour traffic that plagues us Seattle dwellers but somehow it was suddenly 4pm when finally merged onto the...
