Weeds & Wishes

It must have started a couple weeks ago when I arrived home to find a freshly painted, bright red door at the entry way to my home. My husband took the liberty of granting a wish I had whispered many times as we passed other homes with red doors. I love our new red door.

Yesterday I arrived home to find my husband cleaning. Deep cleaning. Furniture was being moved, piles of paper had disappeared, and I could see the glossy shine of our beautiful dining table. There is one room of our house that we never fully moved into (we’ve lived there two years now) and I’ve wished a hundred times that we’d finally figure out something to do with it. Something to make it pretty. Yesterday with sketches of custom shelves and furniture arrangements in hand my husband says to me, “lets move in”.

I’m soooo excited to finally make that room a part of our home. And, I”m also excited about the ripple effect it caused on other parts of our home. We’re rearranging the living room and thrifting a new coffee table. An armoire and shelves will be added to the bedroom. They’ll be a bench seat by the window with fluffy pillows and some house plants. It’s all finally coming together! Of course that means we’ll have to sort through lots of weeds and create quite a storm before it’s through. But cheers to making wishes come true out of the weeds and to finally moving in…two years later.

georgia - awesome!

i love ripple effects—especially when they are for the better. what a wonderful hubby you have to do those things. he sounds like a great guy. too bad we don’t all live closer and the four of us could get together.

i love the weeds reference. i have a post ready to do of a thistle—which i believe is considered to be a weed—and a great quote about weeds to go with it.

so, what’s our next diptych? any thoughts? i’ll give it some thought tonight and let you know what i come up with for ideas. talk to you soon!
