Say Something

I came to the realization recently that in my efforts to SEE things better (aka photography) I have somehow forgotten how to SAY things. I used to blog everyday and I would almost always write things about my adventures and the like. When did that change? I don’t really know but today I feel like saying something.

Trouble is, when I set out to write I really couldn’t find the words. So, I emailed my baby sister and asked her to give me a topic. Within 15mins she came back with this:

“Hmmm the topic you should do iiisss…..maybe your trip. Or about the month of April. Or omg cheese because it is that wonderful. Did you know that there is an erotic bakery by my house! Or talk about spring. Spring changes everything. Babies everywhere, things coming back to life, people changing ages, wardrobe, feelings, plans, routines. and the like. Or not.”

Heehee…I like her. So, I decided I can totally cover all those subjects!

My trip: Yes, I will be leaving for Hawaii a week from tomorrow. WOOHOO!! I sooo need this trip. And as if that weren’t cool enough all by itself, I get to shoot a wedding while I’m there. I’m totally pumped up and ready to go…oh, except that I need a new bathing suit and something to wear to the wedding and a tan and ride to the airport. Looks like I have some shopping to do. (check on the wardrobe topic)

April: This is a “twofor” (or threefor?). My sister and my husband have birthdays this month! (so that covers the “people changing ages”). I have the perfect gifts already picked out and as soon as we’re back form Hawaii, it’s party time! I love celebrating life.

Cheese: As it so happens I’m eating mac&cheese as I type this. I don’t know how many times I’ve tried to go vegan – cheese always calls me back. Why must it be sooooo delicious?

Erotic Bakery: Hahaha. I do love that place. For my bachelorette party my girlfriends attempted to buy me a naughty cake from that shop. They are reeally expensive though so my friends made it themselves and let me tell you they made a very realistic male organ. VERY CREEPY! Still, I gotta hand it to a shop that specializes. They found something they love to make and they don’t blush for a second. High-five erotic bakery!

Spring: Actually, I don’t want to talk about this one. It’s been done.

Babies: Sigh. They really are EVERYWHERE. Steve and I are on month two of trying. It makes me feel silly to say we’re “trying” when so many people have it happen “on accident”. You know what? When you think about it there is only one possible day each month that this can happen and you really never know exactly when that day is. Throw in all the other procreation hurdles like ADD sperm, broken eggs, allergic uterus’s and it’s amazing that babies get made at all! But alas, we keep trying.

Finally, I’ll wrap it up by sharing a delightful surprise I found in my Flickr mail this morning. A woman from Schmap wrote me to say that one of my photos from the Seattle Aquarium has been short-listed for inclusion in the seventh edition of the Seattle Schmap Guide that will be published at the end of the month! I had never heard of Schmap before but I’m just tickled to be included!

Annnnnddd…that’s all I have to say about that.

renee @ FIMBY - I wish I had to ask for ideas, I have WAY too many swirling around that never get written but I like your sister inspired list. And that photo on the top is just wonderful. Just what I would of wanted to see & capture through my viewfinder.

Just gotta know – Did you actually eat the very realistic male organ at your bachelorette? Never mind, I don’t want to know!

Jamie - Hahaha! I totally had a bight Renee! It was a delicious cake but it was way to bizarre to keep eating.

Jamie - Yes, Charlane, they will be crediting me! My name will be listed directly below the image and it links back to the original picture on my Flickr. They’re not paying me for it but that’s okay with me.

Kirsten - That is so awesome about the aquarium book! Congrats!
I love that Erotic Bakery, LOL…not that I’ve ever actually bought anything from there!
Yay for trying! Enjoy it while you can (ie not pucking into a bucket beside your bed all day long, LOL!)

Georgia - oh, congrats! (on the Schmap thing)

pictures or writing—you always deliver. and usually, you give us both—sometimes more writing that pictures. sometimes more pictures than writing. but they are both very good and both complement each other nicely.

i’m so excited that you are going to Hawaii. wait. not excited. jealous! no, really, i am happy for you. i hope it is a wonderful trip. can’t wait to see the pictures you come back with. (although, that just might make me even more jealous.)

Now I’ll have to find one of those guids just so I can tell everyone around me that um ya, “I know the famous photographer who took this shot”.

Second at least “trying” for a baby is fun right?! And cheese…I miss it too sometimes but I just keep reminding myself that it causes my acne (it does really!).

Love ya cutie, have fun in Hawaii and take lots of pics!
