Jamie Neilsen Photography: The Blog bio picture

Hi, I'm Jamie!

It all began back in high-school when I covered my walls with pages torn out of fashion magazines. I’ve never really been into fashion but I love the art created by visionary photographers that make up those beautiful pages. It should be no surprise that my favorite book is “Vanity Fair: The Portraits”.

I took my first photography class back in high-school and learned all about lines, contrast and light. Before long I used my sisters and friends as models and began to cover my walls in my own art. When I was seventeen I took a job as a photographer for a retail portrait studio and within six months I was managing the studio and training new photographers.

In college I ventured into video production. There I learned about storytelling and animation; Photoshop and Illustrator; gear and gadgets; confidence and teamwork. All of this led to meeting my future husband, diving into the world of wedding videography and discovering that my real passion was back in the world of still photography.

My family is very important to me and I spend a lot of time with my sisters (my best friends) and my little nephews. Sometimes I fear that generations from now will never know what I looked like because I’m always behind the camera at every family event and non-event.

Miscellaneous jobs as a nanny, caregiver for a special needs child, dispatcher for a plumbing company, fitness club manager, guest services coordinator, and assistant for a legal team at a major software company have all prepared me to accept the challenges of being a business owner and living out my passion in the world of photography.

As Lead Photographer and Creative Director behind Jamie Neilsen Photography I want to remind you that life is FUN! I take the pictures to prove it.

Family Portraits | Geyer Family Part II

Here’s round two of Kirsten’s family portraits!

Coen was getting a little bored with us so I had to work quick and get creative.

I really can’t remember what was so funny but I think it may have had something to do with boogers.

Can you feel the full body laughter!? Seeing this shot absolutely made my day!

I totally had a helper for these last two. Coen is a great assistant when it comes to

making his parents smile and look cute.

I really doubt I could have got Dave to smile like that on my own! Aren’t they an adorable couple?

Thanks again for a fun afternoon Kirsten! Your family was awesome to photograph. I can’t wait to do it again!
