Today’s Guest Contributor is a very special guest. I discovered the following poem left in the comments by my dear grandma, Elaine Reas. I know some of you are probably sick of Inauguration talk but this was too good not to share. Enjoy!

INAUGURATION
Amid kaleidoscopic swirl
Of tradition, renewal, adulation,
Of hands outstretched, cameras poised, watchful men in black,
The crowd is subdued, anticipating fulfillment of promise.
Herald trumpets announce emerging power;
He enters the arena, surrounded, yet alone,
Expression thoughtful, detached, almost tentative.
Does he feel the weight already?
He raises his hand, speaks the words
That cement him forever in the line of forty-three
Who in diverse circumstances
Took this journey before him.
His eloquent voice spreads trust
Like balm on wounds and hurts
And lifts us up.
We ask so much.
But he knows, and we know
He is but a man.
The labyrinthine world waits to embrace, devour,
And the nation bleeds hope.
