I get nervous.
aka: anxious, apprehensive, concerned, edgy, excitable, fearful, fidgety, jittery, jumpy, nervy, neurotic, querulous, sensitive, shaky, skittish, tense, timorous
Most people who know me might not believe that before a photo-shoot my brain gets jumbled and I can’t form proper sentences. I tend to decline invitations when I don’t know many of the guests or if I think the guests might be “better” than me. Just before you show up to a dinner date at my house I’m on auto pilot checking and double checking that sofa cushions are straight, all the candles are properly lit, and the temperature is just right. Forget the dinner part. I leave the cooking to my hubby because if I had to think about cooking too, either me or the dinner would be a total disaster.
It’s almost comical then, to think that I’ve started a blog for the whole world to read (well maybe that’s a bit of a stretch). I won’t even show my husband anything I’ve written or made until it’s completely done and I feel it’s perfect (and by perfect I mean as far as I know how to take it). This is precisely why I MUST do this.
I refuse to be afraid of life. I pledge to be brave and accept new challenges. I promise to paint something, draw something, write something, sing something, destroy something….lots of somethings! I’ll cook something new, say yes more often, think less, do more. And, I vow to share everything because we should all be excited about life not excitable. I will jump for joy instead of being jumpy and shake things up instead of being shaky.
I have opened the door and cracked all the windows. Welcome. Just step over the pile of gluey things and find yourself a seat on the sofa (it’s somewhere under that pile of new books on knitting and scrap-booking).
So, how about you? What makes you nervous? Will you join me in a pledge to be brave?
