Love Thursday: Family

tats.jpg

It’s “Love Thursday” over at Shutter Sisters and today’s theme is Family. I’m showcasing my favorite picture of me with my “baby” sisters.

A few years ago we realized that we were all grown-up and were being pulled in different directions. The youngest had just turned 18 and the other was graduating from Basic out of the army. This tattoo was our way of sticking together no matter where in the world we ended up.

I may not see my sisters everyday but everyday they are with me. I think of them every time I see this mark and love it when someone ask me, “what does that stand for?”. I get to tell them all about my family and how much my sisters mean to me.

Like most siblings, we haven’t always liked each other. But as adults, they’re easily a couple of my favorite people in the whole world. I’m so proud of who they’ve become and what they strive to be. They encourage me and lift me up at times when I need it most. I know that growing up they often needed me for advice and watched my lead but there are times today when I need them and they are always there. They give me so much guidance and advice and I feel closer to them than ever.

Through thick and thin, blood and tears, we are sisters forever….wherever life may take us.

robin bird - i am one of three grown sisters and can completely relate to your post! thanks for sharing the love!

Jeanette from SA - Oh wow, that’s such a special post, and a beautiful photo

Julia - I’m the oldest of 4 girls. so I can relate also. This is the best idea I have ever seen for a tattoo. What does it mean?

laura – dolcepics - That’s a gorgeous photo and wonderful sentiments behind it. Happy LT!

Jamie - Julia – It stands for femininity (closest thing we could find to sisterhood in a middle of no where Missouri tattoo parlor). I’m told that in kanji, it’s like the moon vs. the sun. The moon being feminine and the sun being masculine.

Johanna - Amen…my sis (who you know) is just over a year older than me….and growing up we had so many ups and downs….these days, she is one of the coolest people I know. There are no downs…unless you count the number of states between us…it’s weird when you grow up…you realize that your sister, who you fought with as a youngster, is now your ally…your bestie…your hero. :)

Johanna - P.S. Your close girlfriends are the sisters you choose to have in your life. Ever since I left home in ’98 to go away to school…I realized that your close girlfriends are your family.

Megan - I am so greatful you are my sis! You keep it special and I wouldn’t trade it for anything…that for being there for me too!!!

donna - Oh..I just love the tattoos. I have never been brave enough to get one so I’ll just admire yours.

(came to your site via Peculiar Momma)

Elizabeth Harper - I love this photo! My daughter and I got tiny tattoos on our ankles on her 18th birthday. I always get a little smile when I look down and see my tiny spider.

Thank you for coming by my blog and leaving me a message. I like what you’re doing here with yours. I’ve been by before and I’ll be back.
