I heart Fall with all my heart. Something about the colors and smells and excitement of change stirs my inner me. The me that is secretly relieved I don’t have to shave my legs quite as often or blast the air conditioning wherever I go. I jump for joy that it’s boot season again and I get to wear a quarter of my wardrobe in one day because of the layer factor.
This is the time when I make a cup of hot herbal tea (part chamomile, part hibiscus, part nettle) in the evenings and snuggle closer to my hubby. He starts making soup out of everything and I start planning the next three months of holidays.
We put away the hammock and cleaned up the garden. The tomato plant that took over our porch and gave us more fruit than we knew what to do with has been picked and cut back. And the leaves! All the beautiful leaves falling and blowing everywhere. It baffles my when I see people raking up all those delicate piles of crunchy, colorful, fun.
It’s a season that’ll sneak up on you and be over too quickly. You can get so wrapped up in the back-to-school mayhem and Halloween absurdities that you forget to breathe in the invigorating, breezy air or admire the rich colors and Fall harvest.
Fall is also a great time for picture taking as the sun isn’t quite as harsh and there are so many fabulous back drops. So, what are you waiting for? Get out there and visit a farm, play in the leaves, sip cider, and toast the changing season.
